Anne- Louise Slee

Melbourne-based Ann-Louise Slee was born in 1988 and studied Pharmacy at Monash University. She undertook part of her studies in Malaysia in order to be able to attend intensive badminton training in elite training centres there. In 2010, Slee was one part of the Australian Women’s Doubles team who competed in the 2010 Badminton World Championship in Paris. The right-hander hopes to one day bring home a medal from the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

Glenn Warfe

Growing up in rural Victoria Glenn Warfe attended the Bendigo Academy of Sports; where he has gone on to reach the badminton world stage. He has competed in two Commonwealth Games and the 2008 Olympic Games in the men’s double event, with fellow Victorian- Ross Smith. The 27 year old has also won the 2010 Tahiti International and the Altona International 2011, held in Melbourne. A former world number 26, Glenn is now ranked in the world’s top 45 and hopes to bring home a medal from next year’s Olympic Games.

Ross Smith

Ross Smith grew up in Swan Hill in country Victoria and was a member of the Bendigo Academy of Sport. At 18 Ross moved to Melbourne and has since reached the world stage with his partner Glenn Warfe who together have won the Altona International and the Tahiti International. He has also represented Australia in the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth games as well as the 2008 Olympic Games. A former world number 26, Ross is now ranked in the world’s top 45 and hopes to bring home a medal from next year’s Olympic Games.

Raj Veeran

In 2001, Raj Veeran migrated to Australia with his sister Renuga and has since represented Australia at the 2010 Oceania Championship, the 2010 Thomas Cup and the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Raj’s best achievement to date came in 2009 when the right-hander made the Scotland International finals.

Renuga Veeran

Hailing from Malaysia, Renuga Veeran came to Australia 10 years ago with her brother Raj and has since worn the green and gold to the Uber Cup and the Commonwealth Games where she made the quarter finals of the ladies doubles event. Veeran is currently ranked 26th in the world in womens doubles, her best ranking to date.

Gronya Somerville

At the tender age of 16 Gronya Somerville already holds the titles of Australian Junior Women’s Doubles Champion and Australian U19 Women’s double champion under her belt. Gronya also came 4th in the Youth Commonwealth Games. The left-hander is part of the National Talent Identification and Development Program as part of the Badminton Jump Smash program.

Vinning Mak

16 year old Vinning Mak is Australia’s U17 Women’s singles champion. She is part of the National Talent Identification and Development Program as part of the Badminton Jump Smash program. Vinning recently competed in the World Junior championships 2011 in Taipei.

Jeff Tho

Born in Bendigo, Victoria, 23 year old Jeff Tho has been playing Badminton since the age of 8 years old. While studying Dental Science at the University of Melbourne Jeff has won his first National Title in 2004 at the Youth Commonwealth Games and gaining the highest world record ranking of 55 in 2007. His ultimate ambition is to win a medal at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

Luke Chong

Specialising in Singles and Mixed Doubles, Melbourne based badminton player Luke Chong has been playing since he was 12 years old when his parents introduced him to the sport. Recently he has become champion of 2011 Zimbabwe International mixed doubles and Runner-up at the 2011 Fiji International mixed doubles. He has obtained a Bachelor of Optometry and the most memorable moment in his career so far is winning his first International Title at the Manhattan Beach Junior for mixed doubles.

Leanne Choo

Originally from Adelaide Leanne Choo has moved to Melbourne to train with the Australian National Squad to further her Badminton career. Her current world ranking is 26 in Womens doubles. Her best achievements to-date is the Quarter finalist of the ladies doubles, Commonwealth Games 2010, Austria International Semi Finalist, New Zealand Open Semi Finalist and Australia Open Quarter Finalist. She has represented Australia in the 2008 and 2010 Uber Cup and 2011 Sudirman cup.

Jacqueline Guan

17 year old Jacqueline Guan specialises in Women's / Mixed Doubles Singles. Her latest best achievements to date are being the Australian Junior International 2011 Winner, 4th at the Youth Commonwealth Games 2011 and the Australian U19 Women's doubles 2011 Winner. She is identified as a talent transfer athlete by National Talent Identification and Development Program as part of the Badminton Jump Smash program.

Sarah Wong

16 year old Sarah Wong specialises in Singles. Recently she won the Girl’s Single Winner at the 2010 U19s Victorian State Title. She is identified as a talent transfer athlete by National Talent Identification and Development Program as part of the Badminton Jump Smash program.
